As the rest of the Canaries and further archipelagos, which form Macaronesia, are all islands of volcanic origen; they distinguish themselves from each other by the green of the vegetation of their mountains and the abundance of water, La Palma being the unique Canary island which has brooks and creeks.
La Palma is a haven of peace and a paradise for the senses. Known as the 'Isla Bonita' (Pretty Island) because of its spectacular natural landscapes, the colour and harmony of its villages and colonial cities alike; it is a unique location where your breath will be taken away by its natural beauty which strikes you at every stage as you explore the most exotic spots.

The birthplace of beautiful legends, La Palma is the perfect location to get away from it all in its leafy laurel woodlands, the largest of the Canary Islands, with refreshing fresh water springs, such as those of Marcos and Corderos; and along ravines which, like the Barranco del Agua, enlighten you with new and different sounds and fragrances.

On the island of La Palma, delcared a Biosphere Reserve in 2002, you can find volcanic cones, idyllic little bays and magical spots such as the woodland of `El Canal y Los Tiles´. Take a trip along the network of footpaths either on foot, by bike or on horseback and have a different and unforgettable experience. Delight your eyes with the spectacular views offered at the Caldera de Taburiente, a breathtaking sight that you can only see from the heights of the beautiful crests surrounding it, which are as often as not, above the clouds.

On this island, you can also visit theme parks, such as the Garden of the Birds or the Maroparque, where you will enjoy learning all about the world’s flora and fauna.

But La Palma, is also the `island of the stars´, due to the extraordinary clarity of the sky there. At Roque los Muchachos, surrounded by a unique setting of truly breathtaking beauty at an altitude of over 2,420 metres above sea level, you can get to know one of the world’s most important astrophysical observatories, where scientists from all over the world study the heavens.

La Palma awaits to offer you a unique holiday, with enchanting rural accommodation, traditional craftwork full of curiosities and its delicious cuisine.
